Would return for Lu become Leddy and Frolik? Perhaps something like Tanev, Lu and 2nd/3rd rd pick to recover one of the 2 picks traded in the Oduya deal for Frolik, Leddy?

Is there a reason why Plekanec is the name you bring up or is it just speculation? Have you heard the Hawks have shown interest in him?

Leddys realistic upside is a 2nd pairing, PP specialist?

Ive watched him about 20 times last year and he seems to hot and cold for my liking. Hopefully as he matures the consistency will come.

What's his trade value in the fans eyes?

Depends on the return I guess...

Not doubting what you are reporting, but hard to get my head around how the Hawks could be soooo screwed by Suter/Leddy's agent that they want to be vindictive on Leddy for it.

I would think significany because of potential and already being in the NHL. Probably 3rd best value for Chicago defenseman. Big return ala a name like Plekanec in a package.

The Hawks have some issues...

...none of them solved with a 47yo goaltender who didn't even play last year, who's said to be looking for a multiyear deal.

...some of you are tired of the Luongo chat, but this one was old seconds after it went public....

People are really down playing Lus value. He's still an elite goalie in the Nhl with a cap friendly hit.

The only thing that's hurting his value is the Vancouver media and fans being stupid. I think his worth is alot more then what you offered.

It's the length of the deal that is hurting.

Leddy won the Mr. Hockey award in Mn the year he was drafted by the Wild. He was thought to be one of the Wilds top defensive prospects while playing for the U of M.

I'm guessing there is something about this guy that the majority of the NHL simply doesn't know about. Why else would the Wild trade him away along with Kim Johnson for something called Cam Barker before he ever even had a chance to don a Wild sweater? Believe me that move had all Wild fans scratching their heads. Maybe there is just something about this kid that isn't being shared with the media or fans that makes him a liability. Not really sure, but something seems a bit fishy to me.

I hate the idea of trading just to trade. We don';t need Doan if he's going to cost us good players and 30 mill for 4 years. He may very well be this year's Brunette.

None of the teams Lu wants has a need for him, so if we trade with Van we better not give up anything useful, otherwise, lets just see what we have in Craw, even though I personally don't have much faith in him.

Lets also not trade for any more smallish players... we got too many of those... I say if we can't get Ryan, Bernier or a d-man like Hannan lets just sit on our hands till January... Which is what SB's likely to do anyway.

I think a Gagner for Leddy swap would be fair Imo.

Kane gets reunited with his junior team mate who is a good example.

This fan has no clue about value, but if there are GM's out there who see great potential the Hawks would be crazy not to listen.

Goalies can pay into there early 40s.

Especially with his style of playing.

Id take him on the Oilers in a heartbeat.

I hope this isn't true. The Hawks shouldn't have ever been in on Suter to begin with given their cap situation and just having gotten out of a terrible contract of Campbells.

A lot of this information is spotty at best and I wonder how much is credible, but all of it does point to a really poorly run franchise, one that sends too many contradictory signals to indicate they actually have a clue.

Well, he is a great regular season goalie. Provided you continue to avoid playoff games he should do great!

I don't know that it would have anything to do with it being something wrong with Leddy the person, or the Hawks being pissed at Sheehy etc. I think it's just a case of dealing from somewhere you have a surplus to improve somewhere where you're deficient. The Hawks have Keith, Oduya, Leddy and then in the pipeline Clendening and a couple other smaller puck moving D-men who all fit that size and type of game. They all can't be on the NHL roster. So someone has to go. Personally I'd rather have Leddy than Oduya, but I doubt Oduya is going anywhere anytime soon after signing the contract. So Leddy might be the odd man out. If trading him helps improve the team in another areas, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Granted, I only saw him once during prospect camp. But I find it hard to believe that Clendening is anywhere near ready. And if he is, he'd still be a rookie D who needs to be babied, and whose minutes would be severely limited. And who is the trusted veteran you pair him with?

I understand the frustration with Neil Sheehy. But I don't think you throw out the baby with the bathwater. I think these rumors might be to make "team leddy" sweat a little. I don't see Leddy being traded at all.

Perhaps it was just a lousy trade...

As a 20yo in his first full season in the NHL

played all 82 games...3 goals...34 assists...-12...ATOI... 22 minutes a game
